Who doesn’t love a delicious Strawberry Julius? Did you know if you use this copycat recipe for a Strawberry Julius you can make one in no time at all.
Orange Julius is a smoothie shop that has been around since 1926. The shop started selling it’s now famous frothy orange drink and is now apart of the Dairy Queen franchise. You may have seen a Dairy Queen/Orange Julius around! The original Orange Julius smoothie was the official drink of the World Fair in 1964, and Johnny Carson gave his audience lifetime passes to the smoothie shop the next year.
You could say that the Orange Julius franchise has been a pretty popular destination for years. Before they became part of the Dairy Queen franchise, they were a hot spot in mall food courts. They started selling only one smoothie drink (the original orange!) and have since expanded their menu to cover other flavors. Among them is the delicious Strawberry Julius. And you guessed it, and it’s made with fresh strawberries instead of oranges! You can also find mango pineapple, pina colada, berry pomegranate and triple-berry there as well.
The one unique characteristic of any Orange Julius drink is the froth. They blend it up and serve it frothy instead of smooth, like most places. This means that there is less ice and more liquid when blended. In this case, you have more milk then ice in the blender. The strawberry Julius is pretty simple to make and uses ingredients that you probably have on hand already.
Make your own homemade Strawberry Julius at home with this easy copycat recipe.
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/3 cup strawberries, sliced
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- handful of ice
Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Make sure to blend long enough to smash the strawberries until there are no chunks left. Pour into a glass and enjoy! If the drink is too thin, add a bit more ice. Too thick? Add a tablespoon or two of milk.Print Recipe
