I love the Houston Food Bank, so when SUBWAY® Restaurants and Social Moms invited us to be part of the “You Share. We Share.” program, we were thrilled to take one day to talk about this great organization and how you can help it, and other local charities in your neck of the woods. From now through August 31st, SUBWAY® Restaurants are partnering with local charities to give back to their communities. When you eat at SUBWAY® Restaurants in the Houston area on the weekends this summer, a percentage of sales up to $50,000 will go to the Houston Food Bank. Learn more about the program here. You can follow SUBWAY® Restaurants on Facebook.
“The You Share. We Share” campaign encourages the community to get out and share their weekends with SUBWAY® Restaurants, and SUBWAY® will share right back by donating a percentage of weekend sales, up to $50,000, directly to a local charity in need. As locally owned and operated franchises, SUBWAY® is excited to be able to further its commitment to the local community.
Did you know that in the Houston area 800,000 people are fed through the Houston Food Bank each year? That meant last year over 59 million individual meals were distributed. Emphasis is on ensuring that wholesome, nutritious foods are available for those in need. Food is distributed directly at the Houston Food Bank or through their many local agencies all over town. You can search their database to see what agency may be local to your neighborhood. Search database.
Volunteers do most of the work at the Houston Food Bank. They need people all of the time to help in the office, to sort food, to pack meals for people, and prepare shipments to the local agencies. There are multiple volunteer shifts available each and every day. You can see what shifts are available if you want to help. See available shifts.
I love this local charity because it helps so many members of our community. Almost 1 in 5 people in the Houston area is served by the Houston Food Bank in a given year. You can help others through a cash donation, volunteering your time, or now by enjoying a delicious sandwich at your at a locally owned and operated SUBWAY® Restaurants franchise (find your store here) this summer in support of this organization.
