How to Make Melting Pot Chocolate Fondue

  2. Stir constantly until the chocolate is melted.
  3. When ready to serve, add crunchy peanut butter to the top of the fondue.

Do you need a Fondue pot for chocolate fondue?

While you do not need a Fondue pot to make chocolate fondue, it is helpful. If you do not have one here are a few ideas for serving chocolate fondue without a fondue pot.

  • Use a regular pot or saucepan to prepare the fondue. When you are ready to serve be sure to set down a thick towel or a potholder on your table and place the pot on top.
  • You can prepare the fondue in a pot, then place it into a mini crockpot at low temperature to serve this chocolate treat.

What to dip in chocolate fondue

What’s the best part of chocolate fondue? What to dip into the fondue. Here are some ideas. You may want to turn pretzels into dippers.

  • Make skewers of strawberries out of wooden skewers or pretzel sticks
  • Banana slices
  • Cut up brownies
  • Cut up bites of cheesecake
  • Large marshmallows
  • Pieces of cut up pineapple
  • Dried apricots
  • Biscotti
  • Pear slices
  • Angel food cake pieces
  • Cut up pound cake

Recipe Notes

  • You can also use dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate.  Whatever is your preference works.
  • The foods you use to dip can change depending on your imagination.  Add a sponge cake, pretzels, Rice Krispy treats, caramels and so much more.  The sky’s the limit!
  • If you don’t have a fondue pot, you can use a double boiler. If you are going to use a homemade double boiler make sure the pot or bowl you use to melt the chocolate in is very dry. Any water in your melted chocolate may make your chocolate seize up.

Prepared this fondue dessert for granddaughters who’re very fussy eaters. Got “two thumb’s up” from both of them! Could only find heavy whipping cream which worked ok. Just added an additional tablespoon of cream to obtain the desired consistency. In addition to suggested dipping food, we included pirouette cookies for dipping. Wonderful, easy recipe to enjoy!!

Loved this! I doubled the recipe and used half Toll House milk chocolate chips, half Ghirardelli semi-sweet chips. Also substituted creamy peanut butter for the crunchy. Yummy! Thank you!

Looks wonderful & easy. I’m making this for our youth group at church tomorrow and wondering what I can replace the dairy with since we’re fasting from dairy & oil for Lent. Any ideas?
