Outback Steakhouse makes some of the best green beans around, you can’t miss when you prepare fresh green beans yourself. Fresh green beans taste better than green beans out of the can. These vegetables are so easy to prepare, so if you aren’t an experienced cook, you can still cook this side dish with very little effort.
When you purchase your green beans from the store, if you can get the thin haricot verts, these will cook more quickly. Haricot verts is simply a French name for this style of green bean. There are other varieties that we typically see in the grocery store, the American style of green bean is larger and thicker. Honestly both work very well. You will simply need to steam the American variety for a little longer.
You may have tasted these at the Outback Steakhouse and wondered why they tasted so good. Yes, the beans are steamed, but then they add a wonderful buttered flavored sauce to these green beans to make them extra good. These beans have a wonderful buttery, sweet, and savory sauce. You can make this sauce by combining a few ingredients. I have created this copy cat recipe by combining, brown sugar, butter, and a few bottled sauces to replicate this dish.
