White Chocolate Hazelnut Cheese Ball

My White Chocolate Cheese Ball is my answer to to making a sweet cream cheese ball that you can spread over shortbread cookies, or even enjoy with pretzel chips. I must confess when I was a small child my Mom and I used to go to the Swiss Colony store in our local mall, and cheese balls for me, where a big treat.

What is great about these is you could make it to bring to a party, and best of all this is something you can make a couple of days ahead of time. This can be served with shortbread cookies, pretzel crackers, or even slices of apples. If you don’t have hazelnuts on hand, almonds, pecans, or even almonds work well.

White Chocolate Hazelnut Cheese Ball

Ingredients

  • 1 8 ounce package of cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup white chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup crushed toasted hazelnuts

Instructions

Soften cream cheese by setting it on the counter to reach room temperature while you melt the white chocolate.  In a small glass dish place the white chocolate chips with the corn syrup in the microwave for 30 second increments, removing and stirring the white chocolate chips together with the corn syrup until the chocolate has melted.  In a small bowl add cream cheese an the melted white chocolate chips and mix together. Add in the 1/2 cup of powdered sugar, and stir to combine.  Refrigerate mixture for about 30 minutes so it will harden.

When the cheese ball has chilled it will become firm, shape into a ball, and then roll in chopped hazelnuts.  You may want to toast the nuts for additional flavor, but be sure to let them cool off completely before the nuts are used.

I made this for a purse party and it was a HUGE hit! I used pecans instead of hazelnuts and it tasted great! More guests left with the recipe than with a new purse!

Oh on apples I would love this! I feel like on top of cookies would be good, but I might end up in a sugar coma haha.
