Please copykat the baked beans @ Joe’s Real B-B-Q in Gilbert, Az. They are the best.

The “Cracker Barrel” dumpling recipe lacked a salt ingredient in the dumpling sauce. I added quite a bit of flour to the dumpling dough as it was wet and impossible to roll. They stayed “doughy” and sticky after cooking. The sauce was good (needed much more liquid, tho) but the dumplings were sticky and tasteless.
I am sorry to hear that recipe didn’t work out as well as you had hoped. That recipe has generally had really good reviews over the years. I’ll have to go back into the restaurant sometime soon to see if it needs to be updated. Sometimes restaurants change and update recipes over the years. ~Stephanie

I don’t think I ever ate at a Chi Chi’s they weren’t a large chain in the south. That’s too bad too, I know a lot of people enjoyed them.

I’d definitely recommend adding Dining Out at Home to your collection. It’s a great way to add some variety into your meals at home and give you the feeling of dining out even when you stay in.
