Applebee’s Bourbon St. Steak – make your steak extra special with this bourbon sauce.

May 19, 2009

You don’t have to leave home to enjoy bourbon flavored steak any night of the week.  A few ingredients really adds a great deal of flavor to a simple cut of meat.
Applebees Steak

This is similar to the Applebee’s bourbon street steak and my husband and I have become addicted to it since we can’t get it here in Mexico.

Applebee’s Bourbon St. Steak

1/2 cup bottled steak sauce
1/4 cup bourbon whiskey
1 tablespoon honey
2 teaspoons prepared mustard
4 beef rib, round, or chuck steaks (10 ounces each)

Combine all the ingredients except the steaks in a baking dish or resalable plastic storage bag; mix well. Add the steaks; cover (or seal) and refrigerate for 2 hours, or overnight. Preheat the
grill to medium-high heat. Grill the steaks for 12 to 15 minutes, or until desired doneness, turning them over halfway through the grilling.

Trying to find a receipe for Red Lobsters Cheddar Baked Biscuits. Also there is chicken house called Belgrades and their Hot Sauce is so god and cannot find the receipe for it.

“Bottled Steak Sauce” is very generic and open-ended. Worcestershire, Heinz 57, and A-1 are examples of steak sauces but each has completely different flavor/taste. As a guide, which sauce is preferred or used in this recipe?

I would suggest simple “generic” steak sauce. I would lean toward’s A-1, but going to that expense isn’t necessary.

    THIS IS NOT Applebee’s Bourbon St. Steak. This recipe just calls for putting bourbon in the steak. Applebee’s Bourbon St Steak refers to Bourbon Street in New Orleans and the steak is Cajun flavored with spicy and hot seasonings and spices and sauces like you wouild normally find in that area. ie; HOT PEPPERS etc;

Just to clarify my earlier comment, the following is verbatim from Applebee’s Menu.
    “Bourbon Street Steak
A juicy, tender steak jazzed up with Cajun spices and served with sautéed onions & mushrooms and fried red potatoes.”
Now all we have to do is find out what gois into those Cajun Spices. Anybody got any good suggestions? Thanks.

This recipe is not even a resembelance of the Bourban Street steak at Applebee’s. It was mediocre at best.

I use Chef Paul Prudhommes Blackened Refish Magic for the Cajun kick.
