Spaghetti Sauce – don’t buy sauce in a jar when you can make home made easily, and with just a few ingredients.
Why buy sauce in a jar when you can make your own spaghetti sauce at home. Recipe comes from Sue A. Mertens Minick from Hazelwood, MO. She actually found this site on the internet! And yes, she is family
2 Tbsp. Olive Oil
1 large minced Garlic Cloves
1/2 Onion, chopped
1 tsp. Basil
1 tsp. Parsley Flakes
1/2 tsp. Black Pepper
1/2 tsp. Oregano
1 tsp. Salt
1 (28 oz.) can Crushed Tomatoes
1 (29 oz.) can Tomato Puree
4 Tbsp. Sugar
Heat oil over medium low heat, and add garlic. Stir and cook until golden brown. Be careful not to burn the garlic. Add onion and cook until soft and golden stirring frequently. Add seasonings and tomato products. Bring to a boil at medium high heat. Reduce to low, cover loosely, and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. This yields almost six cups. For meat sauce add one pound ground chuck when the tomato products are added.
