You can make cole slaw that stays fresh for awhile. In fact it tastes better and better as it sits.
Cole Slaw
1 med. head cabbage
1/2 C. chopped red or green pepper
1 C. chopped onion
3/4 C. sugar
Dressing
1 C. white vinegar
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
3/4 C. salad oil
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. celery seed
Shred or chop cabbage, onions and peppers. Sprinkle sugar on top. Combine dressing ingredient and bring to boil Toss dressing with cabbage mixture. Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours. Slaw will keep for weeks without loosing its freshness.
