This is a great way to make sweetened condensed milk, just like Borden’s. It is lot cheaper to make it this way, and it does work nicely for baked goods. So why not try making your own sweetened condensed milk at home. Homemade sweetneed consdensed milk is perfect for baking.
3/4 C. sugar
1/2 C. water
1 C. plus 2 T. powdered milk
Combine all ingredients. Heat to boiling. Cook until thick, this will take 15 to 20 minutes. This equals one can.
And if you keep going, continuing to stir frequently, you have … Dulce de Leche.
No need to put a can in a pot and hope it doesn’t blow up on you this way.
Ok, I’m going to go get a spoon now and take a dip into the jar of dulce I havei n the fridge that is calling for my attention.
