Grandma’s Oatmeal Cookies – yummy oatmeal cookies!
While my grandmother may not make cookies anymore, I can make her oatmeal cookies anytime. Recipe is from Ethel Eynard. Jefferson City, MO. 1998.
1 C. flour
1/2 C. brown sugar
1/2 C. white sugar
1 egg
1 Tbsp. water
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 C. shortening
1 1/2 C. rolled oats
1/2 C. brown sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift flour, salt, baking powder, and soda together in bowl. Add remaining ingredients except oats. Beat until smooth. Mix in oats and drop dough onto cookie sheets. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
Noted by author the dough was quite stiff but the cookies came out very crisp and rich.
