Stephanie, I love Cracker Barrel Coca-Cola Cake! But…I am so disappointed! I made this recipe today and had poor results. The cake batter seemed way too wet. I measured everything exactly. It took much longer to bake than 25 mins and it didn’t taste very good. The liquid in the batter is 1 cup Coke, 1/2 cup veg oil, 1 stick of butter, 1/2 cup buttermilk, 2 eggs and 1 tsp vanilla? I used real butter instead of margarine. It smelled fantastic while out was baking! The frosting turned out excellent! Can’t figure out what happened! :-(

The Cracker Barrel CC Cake does not have nuts in the frosting … is the rest of this recipe wrong, as well ?

Recipes change over time. This recipe was correct at the time it was developed. I will make it a point to go back in the future and see how the recipe was changed. This recipe was developed over 8 years ago. I know the date on the post isn’t eight years. It has the date when this recipe was converted into wordpress. I hope this helps.

      Thanks,
      Stephanie

We ate this cake at Cracker Barrel’s last night and I used this recipe today. Who can go wrong with a chocolate cake. Right? It’s good, but, this cake is not nearly as dark as CB’s. I think they must double the amount of cocoa.

    • http://www.copykat.com Stephanie

There are darker cocoas available, consider using a dutch process, or Williams Sonoma makes a very nice darker blend of cocoa.
